Stories are so important. The author gets to express themselves, and the readers can feel seen! One fantastic thing about storytelling is that there’s a story for everyone. There are so many stories out there, and they all celebrate different things. You can find books on feelings, people, holidays, etc. Visit your local library or check out our website to find books that celebrate a variety of stories. Here are some of the main topics of our titles here at Cardinal Rule Press!
Friendships
Friendships are crucial, so it makes sense that there are so many children’s books on this topic. These stories can celebrate making new friends, having fun with old friends, or even resolving issues with friends. Cardinal Rule Press is releasing The Time Machine by Pauline David-Sax this fall. It involves two best friends, Nia and Bailey. Well, they were best friends until Bailey said something hurtful to Nia. Bailey is determined to apologize to Nia, so she builds a time machine to go to the past. This story celebrates mending friendships through sincere apologies.
Emotions
Storytelling features lots of emotions. Books can focus on regulating feelings, explaining feelings, and more. These stories can celebrate feeling excited about an accomplishment! Or involve deep feelings, which are okay to have. Here at Cardinal Rule Press, we focus on social and emotional learning. That’s why we include the free reader’s guide with every book. The questions help little readers connect with the characters and understand what they might feel. We form these emotional connections through storytelling, and that is something special.

Holidays
Of course, there are lots of books that celebrate a ton of different holidays. Reading these books can make the time around the holiday feel extra special. I always enjoyed a book near a holiday, especially if one of my parents read the story to me. Books about special holidays can also teach you a lot about different cultures! There are so many holidays celebrated around the world. Reading stories is a great way to learn about them.
People
Last but not least, stories celebrate people! Many meaningful events happen with parents, guardian figures, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and more. You may love to bake cookies with your grandma or garden with your neighbor. Maybe you won the science fair and want to read about a famous scientist like Marie Curie. There are many different people to celebrate through storytelling.
Storytelling is one way we can celebrate meaningful events and people. It’s also a great way to connect with others about similar feelings!
