Maria goes live every other week, taking turns between her author Facebook page and her private Empowering Kids with Character Facebook group. On September 5th, Maria shared how you can take time to celebrate the ordinary, like it being Cheese Pizza Day! You can watch the video here.
As a parent, we are often bogged down with the mundane “to-do’s” that fill our days. Maria encouraged us to celebrate the ordinary in our day, with the children in our lives and the lightheartedness that they bring into our world. Maria shared that she celebrated the “ordinary” that day when her son came downstairs in the morning and asked her to read a book. It’s something very ordinary, but we have to take these moments when we get them. The children in our lives won’t ask us to read them books for long (how often do you ask your parents to read you a book, as a grown adult?)!
To help their family celebrate ordinary days, Maria uses this calendar from the Etsy shop TodaysSpecialUSA. This calendar is large so you can fill in your dates and events AND it lists bizarre and national holidays to celebrate. These holidays are also available through a Google search (“what is today’s national holiday”) or you can go to NationalDayCalendar.com.
Time with our children goes by in a flash so be sure to take the time and celebrate every chance you get! Be sure to hop on over to the Facebook page and tell us how you celebrate the little (and big!) moments in your life.
