Every other week Maria brings lesson plans that you can use in the classroom, based off her own books. Maria went live on her author page on April 18th and shared a great lesson plan that goes along with her book, Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun (also available in Spanish). You can watch the video here.
This lesson was created by Ashley over at Teach Create Motivate. It’s a FREEBIE!! It goes along with Maria’s book, Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. Maria wrote this book loosely based off her own childhood. The lesson is a printable that reads “I like being me because I am…”. The children write their name on the top line and then list 3 reasons why they like being them! They can then draw a picture below of them being that characteristic OR they can write words that describe the characteristics.
Ashley encourages children to share this completed project with someone else or put this on display. Maria agrees that this is important – children reminding themselves that they are unique! This is also important for grownups! Feel free to do this with your students/children and show them by example how to show some self-love.
Remember that Maria alternates these videos between her author page and the private Empowering Kids with Character page, which provides more ideas on the monthly theme and also support from fellow parents and educators!
Don’t forget to add the Empowering Kids With Character Flash Briefing on your Amazon Alexa app or Google Play!
