Hi everyone! I’m Mandy Bush and I am the executive assistant for Cardinal Rule Press (Maria’s publishing company). I am a mother of 2 (son and daughter) and I will be blogging on Be the Difference and will be recapping some valuable tips from Empowering Kids With Character – The Show!
Maria showed us a fun little tradition she has with her children for a July 4th creativity mural – you can watch the full video here.
Maria finds huge rolls of paper at IKEA, Target (in the $1 section) or The Teacher Store (similar product here). You can roll it out on the floor and give the children a theme or just let them do whatever their hearts desire! You can use acrylic paint, watercolor paint, markers, stickers or whatever you find in your craft bin. The goal here is “creativity”! (Maria did warn that acrylic paint normally does not wash out of clothes, so beware of this.)
For the 4th of July, Maria uses a staple gun to put the paper on her fence and the children use acrylic paint to decorate. They create a themed backdrop and then use it for photos (see her comment for their finished product)! I think this can be used for any fun get-together – just find your theme and run with it! ?
