Hi everyone! I’m Mandy Bush and I am the executive assistant for Cardinal Rule Press (Maria’s publishing company). I am a mother of 2 (son and daughter) and I will be blogging on Be the Difference and will be recapping some valuable tips from Empowering Kids With Character – The Show!
On June 21st (the official first day of summer!!!), Maria shared another fun activity from iheartcraftythings.com that encouraged OUTDOOR play- you can watch the full video here.
SUPPLIES:
- Brown paper bag
- markers
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Write “color hunt” on the bag
- Scribble some colors on one side of the bag and hand the bag to the child. Encourage them to go outside and find an item to match each color on the bag (placing those items in the bag)!
**Pause! We want to make sure you are getting all of our up to date research findings and support for parents and educators. Sign up here for our twice a month newsletter!

Another benefit to this fun game is that when everyone is done finding items to match their colors, you can all sit down and dump your items out and use some “schooling” by counting, sorting and learning!

Maria also shared that she read an article about how there are benefits to walking around in bare feet outside. It centers you and there are many scientific studies about it. She encouraged us to allow our children to go barefoot – yes, they may step on something and get hurt, but we did as children and we’re OK. ?
