Hi everyone! I’m Mandy Bush and I am the online business manager for Cardinal Rule Press (Maria’s publishing company). I am a mother of 2 (son and daughter) and I will be blogging on Be the Difference and will be recapping some valuable tips from Maria’s new show, Empowering Kids With Character – The Show!
On January 25, Maria did her last segment in goal setting talks about vision boards with children!! You can watch the full video here.
Example of items needed:
- Vision Board (large sheets of paper)
- Glue sticks
- Magazines
- Scissors
- Markers
- Construction paper
- Stickers
First Step:
Maria explained a vision board to the children. This vision board isn’t about material items, it’s a visual goal marker to help children remember their vision. They can use words that describe themselves or things they want to be and do this year.
Second Step:
Set aside 20-30 minutes for you and your children to look through the magazines and cut things out.
Third Step:
Now comes the super fun part – gluing everything on the vision boards!
Maria then shared examples from each of her children. Her8-year-olddaughter wants to remember to make her bed every morning. She included a bed to remind her. She also included eating healthier and brushing teeth. Her 4-year-old son used pictures like camping, and an apple. Maria shared her vision board as well, which included folding laundry, strength, play, a pic of a phone (to remind her that she wants to put the phone away from 4-8pm, in order to spend time with her family), reading, fake lashes (a gift to herself on her upcoming 40th birthday!).
The vision boards are a great visual goal marker to remind the children (and ourselves!) how important it is to think about our goals in order to bring them to fruition. I’m excited to try this with my 4-year-old son and curious about what he will choose for his vision board!
