Family Kindness Plan for the New Year - mariadismondy.com

Hi everyone! I’m Mandy Bush and I am the online business manager for Cardinal Rule Press. I am a mother of 2 (son and daughter) and I will be blogging this month on Be the Difference, sharing some fun things with you.

Today I want to talk about kindness and YOU in 2018!

Life goes by fast. If you’re a parent, those words don’t even seem to describe how fast it goes by. In 2018, think about being intentional with your family with the kindness that you are going to teach your children in the following way:

Make a Plan –choose to do something as family, like a random act of kindness, once a quarter (outside your home). Whether it be volunteering at a soup kitchen, making blessing bags for the homeless or baking cookies for your neighbor. You can choose to make a plan for each quarter or even once a month. The main thing is that you be intentional about it and think about it now, so that when 2018 comes, you are prepared to model and promote kindness within your family unit. Children learn from what they see and if we want our future leaders to be kind and caring individuals, it’s important to teach them how to do that by modeling and participating in activities that promote kindness.

Here is a compiled a list of ten ideas from this awesome list of 25:

  1. Tape change to a vending machine for a stranger to find
  2. Make a Thank You card for your mail carrier
  3. Send a hug in the mail
  4. Write a Smile It Forward note for a friend or family member
  5. Donate toys to charity
  6. Pay for a stranger’s coffee (or meal!)
  7. Do yard work for a neighbor.
  8. Let someone go ahead of you in line
  9. Do a chore for someone
  10. Smile at everyone you see

If I had to choose a favorite? I would say “Smile at everyone you see”. You never know how that could improve their day!!!
