Last week I was in Orlando with my family. We soaked up as much Florida sunshine as we possibly could. Tourists attractions like The Magic Kingdom, Wild Florida, Cocoa Beach and Downtown Disney were on the agenda. Then there was swimming… Our resort had really great pools to choose from that made it fun to walk somewhere different each day. The week ended with my speaking engagement at The World Reading Festival in Lakeland. It is put on by the women of The Junior League. You can read about the event and my interview here.

At one point during the afternoon, I was taken back by the generosity of the organization. Over 1700 people in attendance and each child received at least 3 books for FREE. My book, a scholastic book and an autographed copy of one of Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw’s titles. You are going to want to order her books. They celebrate diversity and are enriched with culture and an abundance of love and creativity! It was a pleasure getting to know Jenny Sue over the course of the two days.

Thank you to the woman of The Junior League for all of your hard work and dedication to this event. So many children smiled on Saturday because of you and those children have the gift of literacy in their homes now. Books are a priceless gift to give and I am honored to have been a part of your event (again!)
