This year, we sat down as a family and came up with goals for the year.

We are committed to partcipating in a service project once a quarter. We want to raise children who think about others and work towards the greater good. What better way to teach this than to model it!

Here are our plans so far in completing this goal in 2015:

Q1:

  • Care Package: Shop, package and mail a care package to a Troop overseas. We have a friend of a friend we are surprising and we were able to get photos of the troop and where he is stationed to help our kids grasp the concept of who we were helping. My five year old helped me write the letter and my three year old decorated the box and helped pack all the goodies into the box.
  • Easter Baskets: There is a local organization that invites volunteers to help package Easter Baskets that get donated to over 3000 children and adults in our community. We are signed up to pack baskets in March. You can find out more about this group here.

Q2:

  • Walk for Wishes: Have you heard of the Make A Wish Foundation? This year we are raising money and walking for children with terminal illnesses. This organization fullfills these children’s wishes and helps brighten their spirits as they deal with difficult treatments.

Q3:

  • No plans yet!

Q4:

  • Maybe something to help others around the holidays?
