I am sadly aware that I can’t shelter my children from all the dangers of the world. However, I have made it my mission to do my best in our home to provide a healthy household. A few weeks ago I asked a friend if she knew of a brand of popsicles that didn’t have artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup and other additives. After plenty of reading on cooking and family websites, I couldn’t find a brand that health nuts rave about. You see, I just want an easier solution to a healthy summer treat!

Anyhow, my friend reminded me that pouring my green smoothies into molds will make healthy popsicles. I have done this in the past but the smoothies melt super fast and the molds make them very messy.

Another friend suggested Zipsicles. Bingo! In a baggie like a popsicle but YOU fill it with whatever mixture you desire. Pouring my green smoothies would be ideal but another alternative is to use healthy juices, such as these by Naked Juice, for the pouches. We made several batches yesterday. I can’t wait to see how they taste and go over with the girls.

Something else we’ve done in past summers is put yogurt pouches in the freezer for a snack on a hot summer day. Do you have any suggestions to healthy summer snacks?
