Today we paid it forward twice. I modeled compassion while with my girls. Remember, compassion is an important trait we can teach our children simply through our own actions.
First we bought the Salvation Army bell ringer a hot cocoa (part of our RAK and advent calendar). After I walked away from the lady, my daughter said “Look Mama, she’s smiling!” Worth every penny of the overpriced Starbucks drink! Then, after coloring holiday pictures, packaging up sweet treats and hand warmers from the dollar section at Target, we left a package for our Garbage Workers.
Showing compassion doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. It doesn’t have to take up a lot of your time. The value in your children witnessing it first hand is priceless. I would love to hear how you and your family models compassion throughout the holidays! Please comment below!
