Ladies and Gentleman, if you haven’t already heard, there’s big news around here! My first book, Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun: Having the Courage to Be Who You Are, is being dramatized into a children’s musical. That’s right, you heard it correctly! A musical!!! In New York and with the possibility of it traveling across the United States!!!
This is how it came about…
A creative playwright named Brandon contacted me a few weeks ago. The story began one night while him and his wife were babysitting their seven year old niece. They asked her to pick out her favorite book for them to read. It was my book and Brandon said he couldn’t stop thinking about how great it would be on stage. He contacted me shortly after, we worked out the fine details, and he is currently vacationing in the Hamptons writing the play!
Brandon hopes to have the musical on stage in one year. I will fill you in on more details as they come about. After going back and forth about the process with Brandon, I am even more excited to be working with him. He is passionate about his work and is inspired to make a difference in the world. He is talented (I’ve listened to his original scores on You Tube) and has already written and produced on-stage productions in the past.
The last few months have been really great for me as a writer. To find out that all three of my books have hit number one on Amazon’s Top Sellers lists, to have sold 40,000 copies of Spaghetti, to have a new title coming out in 2013 with a super talented illustrator working on the art and now this? I am so grateful for the support that my fans and readers have given me. You are great people and you are helping me to do great things! Thank you!
So who’s going to the Big Apple with me next fall for Opening Night? 🙂
