We have a new favorite book in our household, The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman. The story is about a mother who goes above and beyond in making her children happy. She makes homemade lemonade, applesauce, oatmeal along with many other specialties. At the same time, she carries a smile while raising the children of the house she calls her silly eaters. First, it’s Peter Peters, then Lucy and Jack. Eventually, there’s Mac, Mary Lou, Flo and Fran. It’s a crazy household of seven children, all with unique tastes. Just when Mrs. Peters thought her hardwork was going unnoticed, the seven silly eaters come up with a special plan to make their mama smile.

The entire story is written in rhyme (I love this) and the illustrations make you smile. The house is totally chaotic but at the same time, you get the feeling that it’s a house filled with love. We may have read this book 100 times (anyone with a toddler reading this knows I am not exaggerating) since we received it as a gift in a book chain letter (Thank you Lori and Angie)!
