Today I am linking up to two groups. Top Ten Tuesday (wait, it’s Thursday!) over at Many Little Blessings and Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade.
Most women wear many hats, including myself. The job that is number one to me is being a wife and mama. I am also a children’s book author, presenter, reading specialist (currently on a child care leave going on my 2nd year), judge, and fitness instructor. Today for the Top Ten List, I want to tell you why I love what I do!
1. Stay-at-home/work-from-home Mama
Wearing many hats allows me to stay home with my girls and have a flexible schedule. I feel very fortunate because I started out working when I had my first daughter and it was tough getting out of the house on time every morning. A friend of mine told me that work will always be there and that I will never look back on my life and say “I regret not working when my kids were little.” Dave put me on a budget and we are making it work!
2. Help Others Achieve Goals
My job as a fitness instructor allows me to help others achieve their goals. I also surround myself with like-minded, healthy people first thing in the morning! I have been doing this for 11 years and have made some great friends.
3. Live A Healthy Life
Teaching classes forces me to get out of bed and work out before my family wakes up. I get to live a healthy life without having to miss out on anytime at home. I also love that I have continuing ed. credits to keep up for my certification. I am always involved in trainings at the club or reading articles on fitness.
4. Make A Difference
My job as an author has allowed me to create my platform on making a difference in the lives of children all across the United States. My frend Meg and I created a Non-Profit a few years ago because we are passionate about doing things for others. I want this one life I live to be an extraordinary one where I positively influence others.
5. Stimulate My Brain
I can’t tell you how many tutorials I have watched on YouTube to learn how to do something for work. Whether it’s learning about Photoshop, webinars, skyping presentations, website management or charging credit cards from my iphone. There’s always something I am learning to do for work!
6. Network
I am really loving the new friends I am making through blogging. It has introduced me to a new group of creative souls all around the world!!! These bloggy buddies have gone out of their way to help me get my blog up and running. I love the networking with authors too. I recently made a friend in California and look forward to brainstorming new ideas with her!
7. Think Outside of the Box
I was able to connect with a family who lost their 11 year old to suicide (bully related). I saw their story on CNN. Looked them up on Facebook and have been in contact with them and am working to get them over here to present to schools in Michigan about their program Stand for the Silent.
8. Be My Own Boss
I am thankful to my first publisher for getting me on my feet. I am now working on the publishing process as the owner of my own company. I learned that I am not so bad at the business side of things but that when it comes to working the numbers? I could use some guidance!!!
9. Flexibility
If I am having a busy month because of what’s going on in my personal life, I have the flexibility to work around it with my book business.
10. It was a dream of mine
I always dreamed I would be doing something to help others and make a difference. This dream has come true in all aspects of what I do!
