Books That Make a Difference

Kindness Counts!

This is what I've learned about Blog Tours, there are actual companies that you can pay to set up your tour. Of course, I chose the "I can do it myself" route. This week I realized why there are blog tour companies.

Now that I am working through it, I must say, I couldn't have done it without the help of my friend Barbara. She has connected me with so many blogger friends (most of them guest blog over at a really great teaching website called Teaching Blog Addict). She is a blogger herself, a school counselor and holds several other titles like SUPER FRIEND!

Barbara writes a blog called Corner on Character. She tells you a little about her self and how she got started. Here's a little something she shares with readers: "I especially enjoy working with people as they discover who they are, what they stand for, what motivates them, and what they want and need." Barbara reviewed a book of mine a year ago and I feel like since then I have discovered what I stand for, what motivates me and what I want to do in this one life I live! Thank you for your support, dedication to what you do and for writing on such a timeless topic: character.

Today you can head on over to Barbara's blog to read my guest post on raising a child filled with kindness! She's also hosting a giveaway (I hope you're not sick of freebies yet, because there's one more week filled of them)!

Barbara also has also written for Character Counts and Really Good Stuff, The Teacher's Lounge. She's been asked to be a guest blogger on a ton of reputiable sites and I hope to bring her over here as a guest blogger soon! Once again, check out her blog, there's a ton of inspiration over there!

The winner from yesterday who will receive an autographed copy of The Wonder of A Summer Day is Christina!

10 MUST Read Books for Children Today!

A Letter From Maria

In today's society, it's important to remind children that, although we are different on the outside, we are very much alike on the inside.

Unfortunately, bullying has become a major problem in the United States. It's not only painful for children, but occurring at an increasingly young age. My books are meant to empower children to positively handle tough situations through their timeless messages.

I've designed several school programs around the themes of my books to inspire children to practice essential life skills and make the world a better place. I believe that early education on these important character traits will help equip our children with what they need to be problem solvers and in turn, spread joy and kindness to others.

Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun teaches children to respect each other's differences while dealing with adversity with self-confidence and courage.

The Juice Box Bully, co-written by Bob Sornson and myself, shows children that strength can come in numbers.  By encouraging community in Mr. Peltzer’s classroom, children help a new student learn the ropes.

Pink Tiara Cookies for Three focuses on a subtle type of bullying. When teasing happens between friends, especially a group of three friends.

The Potato Chip Champ is all about empathy. Empathy is what I believe to be the cure for our bullying epidemic.

Spoonful of Sweetness is my first baby board book. It's a step I've taken towards early intervention, in addition to speaking to children about empathy. This book is for children from birth to preschool, and is also available as a digital app.

Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun (The Children's Musical!) is now onstage and touring to schools and theaters across the country.

Chocolate Milk, Por Favor! is a story of inclusion, diversity and empathy. It is about how actions speak louder than words!

The Little Linebacker is co-written with NFL player Stephen Tulloch. The story teaches children that dreams can come true with hard work and determination.

My eighth book drives home the message of paying it forward with kind acts. It was released in 2017 and is called The Jelly Donut Difference.

Stay tuned to another exciting title being released in 2018!
